Wrap-up of Sophmore year :)

Wow, so this is it. This is the end of my first year of highschool. Wow.

This year has been so amazing. My friends and peers have been awesome, the teachers have been pretty great, and this year has just been, well, amazing.

The first day of school was a little intimidating. I kept thinking "Omg highschool! New stuff!" But now, I am thinking more on the lines of "Omg it's over! This year has gone by too fast!"

I am really going to miss everything. We had such a great group this year! Everything has just been so much fun and I would not trade any of the experiences I have had for the world. Okay, so maybe I exaggerated a little with the whole "for the world" part.....

Anyways, really, in a wrap, this year has just been.....AMAZING! I look forward to another great year next year as a junior.

So much depends upon...

So much depends
upon

a brass
doorknob

rough and rugged from
use

within the dark
times

Yeah I know. You are probably wondering what all that means. Although this may not make any sense to you, this makes perfect sense to me.

Have you ever just had a horrible day? What got you through it?

Ever heard the expression "when one door closes, another one opens"?

Think of it this way, the brass doorknob is connected to a door, and this door opens to something better. The doorknob is rough and rugged because so many people have been in similar situations and opened up the same door to freedom. This also explains the dark times part.

Now do you see what I mean? Do you understand? If not, maybe you viewed this in a different way. I never said there was a right or wrong view of this. I guess there could be many different opinions. I guess as long as you atleast get something out of it, then everythings all good.

My Favorite Techie Tool

I have a couple of favorite "techie" tools that we use around school.

The first is the computer. I really enjoy the computer because this is where the world wide web resides. The internet really helps out in class when doing research on certain topics, blogging in english class, or just to pass the time when given free time.

Next I really like the smart board. In one of my classes my teacher uses the smart board to draw up problems and equations. The smart board has a number of different symbols and shapes already programmed into it so messed up pictures on a regular board are no longer needed. I find this very helpful, and ofcourse this would not even work right without the aforementioned computer!

My last favorite is a very simple tool. Most do not really think much of the electric pencil sharpener (EPS) but I do. This wonderful device saves so much time when a pencil is in need of being sharpened. Oh! Not only is the EPS faster but it is also quieter! A 2-in-1!

A Pretty Lazy Spring Break

This spring break I pretty much did nothing. I laid around the house, watched television, and practically lived off of Facebook. Oh yes, and ofcourse I stayed in my pajamas as long as possible. Okay hold up. I would love to say that this was all that went down, but really I did leave the house a couple of times.

The first Friday night I went to the Twilight DVD release party at Hastings. Honestly I did a whole lot of fun. At first I just walked around, talked to my friends, and basically just kindof chilled. Honestly, that is the only true reason I went. I do not really care about the movie because I did not like it. I went because the release party gave me a good excuse to hang with my friends at Hastings until midnight. Unfortunately, about 10:30 p.m. my friends decided to couple off and be all cute and lovey. Soooooo.....I went and found myself a good book. Then, about an hour and a half later, I decided that it was time to go.

The next Thursday I had to go to my friend's mandatory wedding party meeting. This reminded me that she was getting married in two months. Wow. Then that Friday was my other friend's sweet sixteen. This reminded me that she can now legally drive without an adult. Wow again.

So, as anyone can plainly see, my spring break was lazy, but eventful.

An excerpt...

“When a miracle happens and some live to be forty-five, they are the Ancient Ones, and children stare at them when passing by the Home of the Useless.” In Ayn Rand’s Anthem, the average person lives around forty years. Some live longer, but none surpass the age of forty-five. To those of this day and age, this is a strange scenario.

Perhaps the biggest reason of all is simply that there is no hope. In life, hope is key. The people in Equality’s society have no hope, and which gives them nothing to live for. With hope there is always something better in the world. When one loses hope, they once again lose the will to live. When someone is lost, hope is there to guide them home again. Without hope, one will stay lost forever, never to be found. Equality’s society desperately needs hope. They need to know that somewhere out there, life is better. Somewhere, there is a place where one thrives on being different. Somewhere, there is a place where individuality is rejoiced. Somewhere, ego is honored.

Equality has the will to live. He goes out, finds a new home, and most likely lives to be older than forty-five. In not having the will to live, the soul starts to dematerialize. Without soul, there is no life. The simplest yet most important things are essential to living a longer and happier life. One just has to know how to branch out, be different, have ego.

A little brush of perspective.....

There comes a time in everyone’s life when one must stick up for those around them. In one particular case, I had to stick up for one of my friends, against another of my friends. At first, I was not sure exactly what was going on. At one point we were all the very best of friends, then, suddenly two of us could not stand to look at each other. I couldn’t completely comprehend what was going on. None of us could. All I knew was that one of my best friends was crying herself to sleep at night. So, I snooped around. I found out what really went down. Karli had completely fallen for Darren, and Darren had led her on. He did not realize his mistake and continued to be a total jerk to her about it. This did not make me happy at all. I decided to confront him about the situation. I ended up telling him that if he was going to upset Karli and be a jerk to her then he did not need to be hanging around us. What he did was wrong and he never should have treated her that way. So yes, I stuck up for my friend because in this case it was the right thing to do. Yes, I lost Darren’s friendship, but in the end, what he did to Karli just put who he really was into a clearer perspective. I will always be there for my friends no matter what the consequences may be.

Half full/Half empty

Christmas is coming closer and so is the end of the first semester. I have recently been asked, "What does it feel like to be a sophmore.5?" How do I feel? I feel mixed. I'm really quite thrilled that the year is half over. I am in such a great need of a break. But, as eager as I am to start a new semester....I am also kind of dreading it. Soon the second semester will also have come and gone, leaving the class of 2011 only two years left in highschool. This truly saddens me to think of the small amount of time we have left. However, I am also excited to see what the future may hold. So, in the end one feeling does not over power the other. I am simply....mixed.
